Implants are replacements for lost or missing teeth. Once restored, they look, feel, and function like your natural teeth. Implants provide a stable attachment for a single tooth, bridge, or complete dentures.
Ronald S. Sambursky, D.M.D. has been a leader in providing implant restorations and developing innovative implant-based treatments for more than 17 years. We have helped thousands of people discover the benefits of long lasting, natural looking dental implant restorations. Patients tell us their implants give them confidence and improve their quality of life. Studies have documented a greater than 98% success rate for implants after ten years.
Reasons for dental implants:
- Replace one or more missing teeth without affecting adjacent teeth.
- Restore a patient’s confident smile.
- Restore chewing and speech.
- Restore or enhance facial tissues.
- Support a bridge or denture, making them more secure and comfortable.
What does getting dental implants involve?
The process of getting implants may require only a few weeks or several months to accomplish.
X-rays and impressions (molds) are taken of the jaw and teeth to determine bone, gum tissue, and spacing available for an implant. Often times Dr. Sambursky requests that a CT scan be performed in order to determine whether or not there is enough bone replacement for an implant.
Dr. Sambursky will select the appropriate surgeon for your treatment based on your needs. While the area is numb, the implant will be surgically placed into the bone and allowed to heal and integrate itself onto the bone for up to six months. Occasionally a second stage surgical procedure is required to bring the implant from the bone level, and through the tissue, by using a trans-mucosal abutment.
After several weeks of healing the artificial teeth are made and fitted to the post portion of the anchor. After a healing period, the artificial teeth are securely attached to the implant, providing excellent stability and comfort to the patient. This may take two to three visits..
You will receive care instructions when your treatment is completed. Good oral hygiene, eating habits, and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new implant.
